2020 Honda Accord vs. 2020 Toyota Camry Comparison - Kelley Blue Book

The 2020 Honda Accord does just what decades of Accords have done: it’s a smart, comfortable, highly competent car that’s at the top of its class. Every generation is better than the last, and if we had to recommend just one car to most buyers, the Honda Accord would be it. It’s roomy, gets excellent fuel economy, and has an impressive reputation for reliability. Because it does everything well, it continues to be one of the most awarded cars at KBB. Every Accord comes standard with Honda’s suite of safety technology, as well as a packed list of features. It also comes with a variety of powertrains, including a 2.0-liter turbo paired to a 10-speed automatic. It’s also one of the very few midsize sedans available with a 6-speed manual transmission, reflecting Honda’s emphasis on driving fun. But it’s the practicality and refinement that keep shoppers coming back.

Camry

The 2020 Toyota Camry is one of the best-selling sedans for good reason. It combines good looks, decent dynamics, pricing, options, and Toyota’s reputation for safety and reliability. Toyota recently showed off its all-wheel drive Camry making it one of only three sedans  (Subaru Legacy and Nissan Altima) to offer this feature. It also comes in a hybrid, should you want to save at the gas pump. The Camry has always been comfortable and compliant on the road. But now there’s a sportier TRD trim level that adds even sharper handling. Toyota has finally added Android Auto to the 2020 Camry (it already came with Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa), for this year and offers the Camry in a limited TRD version as well. The Camry comes standard with Toyota’s Safety Sense -P suite of safety tech and driver assistance aids, too.

Similarities

Price range, durability, excellent resale value; hybrid models; top safety features even at the lowest trim levels

Honda Accord Advantages

Optional 6-speed manual in Sport model; more trunk space; roomier cabin.

Toyota Camry Advantages

More power; available V6 and AWD; hybrid earns better fuel economy.

Final Recommendation

This one is a coin toss. Honda has long been the benchmark in this class with great styling, spirited handling, and an available manual in the Accord. But Toyota has stepped up with Camry and is one of the few midsize sedans that still offers an optional V6. While both have hybrids, only the Camry offers AWD. With similar prices, great quality and high resale value, this one comes down to whether you like the edgier look of the Camry or the timeless looks of the Accord.
