2021 Honda Civic Hatchback makes US debut - Yahoo! Voices

Coinciding with the arrival of the 2021 Honda Civic Type R at US dealerships, Honda North America has announced that the 2021 Honda Civic Hatchback has begun arriving in dealers, with a suggested starting price of USD22,000 (approx. PHP1.072 million before fees and taxes).

The 2021 Honda Civic Hatch—which is actually a 2020 model redesignated because of the delayed release—features updates inside and out, and adds a Sport variant infused with Smart Start and Entry, along with an upgraded infotainment system now with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

And for the first time ever, the top-of-the-range Sport Touring variant now comes with a 6-speed manual transmission option to satisfy purists craving for more performance and control.

As with most styling updates, the biggest changes to the 2021 Civic Hatchback can be found at the front façade, now displaying restyled fog light housings, a body-color crossbar, blacked out headlights, and an updated Solid Wing Face grille, also blacked out. The Sport Touring trim comes with better LED headlights shining wider and longer beams.

Out back, the lower bumper mirrors the changes at the front, with the crossbar also in body color. New wheel design options come in only two colors—black or dark gray. Good luck telling the difference.

Aside from the unique features of the Sport Touring trim, it’s hard to distinguish the different Civic Hatchback variants exterior-wise, but it’s an altogether different story inside. New dash trim differentiates various trim levels, with Sport trims getting a new geometrical pattern, LX and EX a new painted pattern, and EX-L and Sport Touring an exclusive brushed black treatment.

The EX trim also adds an 8-way power driver's seat in lieu of manual adjustments, plus a new leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Sport Touring trims also now come with the HomeLink garage opener suite, plus the option of a 6-speed manual transmission mated to the standard 1.5-liter turbo engine dealing out 171hp and 220Nm of torque. All other trims rely solely on a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

All Civic Hatchbacks also benefit from better sound insulation in the floor, trunk, and front and rear fenders, ensuring drivers get to their destination peacefully.

Infotainment duties are handled by an upgraded 7-inch touchscreen display system, which links to eight speakers. The system houses the Honda Sensing suite of safety and driver assistance systems, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR).

We don’t have the Civic Hatchback locally, but the good news is that the 2019 Honda Civic Type R sold here has most of these features present, and you can buy one at your local Honda dealer for PHP3.18 million.
