Ramler Named Finalist For Honda Sport Award - GopherSports.com

University of Minnesota women's gymnastics senior Lexy Ramler has been named one of four finalists for the prestigious Honda Sport Award for Gymnastics, the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) announced on Thursday. Ramler  is a two-time Honda Award nominee, having also been nominated at the end of the 2020 season.

The Honda Sport Award is considered "the best of the best in collegiate athletics" and is presented to the top women in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports including gymnastics. The finalists for the gymnastics award are determined by a panel of coaches and experts from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA).

The winner will be announced the final week of April following a vote from administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA schools. The winner of the gymnastics award will then become a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2021 Honda Cup, which will be presented on June 28.

Including Ramler, this year's finalists are Luisa Blanco (Alabama), Lynnzee Brown (Denver) and Anastasia Webb (Oklahoma).

Ramler's senior campaign has accumulated a multitude of accolades, including being named the winner of the AAI Award. Ramler has scored a perfect 10 on both vault and beam, and also set a new program record in the all-around with a 39.850. Ramler won 31 event titles this season and was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week six times. She ended the year tied for No. 1 in the nation on beam, No. 3 on bars, tied for No. 5 on vault, tied for No. 28 on floor and No. 2 overall in the all-around. Ramler was a Big Ten Champion on bars, beam and in the all-around. She was also awarded with her third-consecutive Big Ten Gymnast of the Year title. Ramler was the Athens Regional All-Around Champion and was recently named an All-American on beam, while also recording second-team honors on bars, vault and in the all-around. At the NCAA National Championships, Ramler tied for 5th on beam, 11th in the all-around, 14th on vault, 17th on bars and 40th on floor.
