How a Honda ended up in an overturned truck’s trailer on Route 33 - lehighvalleylive.com

A tractor-trailer exiting Tuesday from Interstate 78 West to Route 33 North rolled onto its driver’s side, right in front of a Honda CR-V exiting onto Route 33 North from I-78 East, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

As the 2012 Freightliner’s trailer broke apart in the crash, the Honda was driven inside, where it came to rest, police said.

Both drivers had their seat belts on and escaped with suspected minor injuries, state police at Belfast said in a news release Wednesday. Neither had any passengers.

The crash about 1 p.m. in Lower Saucon Township closed both ramps from I-78 to Route 33 North until about 6:45 p.m.

Police identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as a 30-year-old man from Loris, South Carolina. He faces two traffic citations, police said.

The Honda driver was a 73-year-old Allentown woman, according to police.

Neither was taken to the hospital, police said.

Fast Lane Towing removed both vehicles.

State police said troopers were assisted by the Steel City, Lower Saucon Township, Nancy Run, Bethlehem Township and Williams Township fire departments and Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Co. EMS.
